As illustrated, Mitsubishi Electric has areas of expertise that go well beyond the simple BESS installation. This is an incredibly important consideration for any C&I or power utility customer. Consider the following ways that this impacts a give project:

SSD provides all solutions in pre-designed containers, where the battery stacks are already integrated with the appropriate electronics. Each unit is a 2.6 MWh container featuring 15 stacks per 40-foot-long containers. These are easily shipped, placed and integrated into the customer project; particularly with multiple container lift points available on either side. External access to each stack is easily accomplished through front or rear doors. The container comes configured with DC collection boxes, project specific DC/AC cables, HVAC, lighting and receptacles, an AC panel and fire suppression. Each container could be called “plug N play.”
SSD integrates the energy storage container with a high quality, air cooled inverter with an integrated recombiner and close coupled bus connection. This is a high-density solution with up to four inverters per cabinet. See technical specifications for more information.”
Mitsubishi Electric SSD offers a battery management system that aggregates data from its collections of stacks. It accepts balancing configurations and converts them into live commands. The system works in three dimensions seamlessly, including:
Battery Management Controller (BMC) – works in management of four cells connected in parallel. It monitors and relays cell group temperature and voltage to the battery pack controller. It also controls the local balancing relay.
Battery Pack Controller (BPC) – The BPC aggregates the cell groups below it and manages cell balancing.
String Controller – Working with PCB technology within the battery stack, all monitoring and command control from the BPC and the BMC are aggregated. The string controller can connect and disconnect the stack from the DC bus when appropriate..
SSD BMS is a networked solution with local SCADA interface and an Internet capability. This element management system is a dynamic platform that can serve myriad revenue streams simultaneously. It provides behind and in front-of-the-meter applications that can optimize cell-level and balancing awareness, all observable through SSD and/or customer NOCs. A subset of this platform is available if a different EMS is preferred that still allows customer to enjoy SSD industry leading cell fidelity, global monitoring, deep analytics and advanced balancing function.:
